In Up Next Scientists’ first ever Writers’ Lab program, 7 future scientists were mentored by UNS Literary Research Commission Members to create a full length Systematic Review.
Introducing Writers’ Lab October 2024 by UpNext Scientists:
This 6-week FREE, selective virtual program offers personalized mentorship and guidance in writing scientific papers.
Program Features:
On-demand lessons covering how to research and write various scientific papers, including Literature Reviews, Meta-Analyses, and Hypothetical Research Papers
Weekly 1-on-1 mentoring sessions with experienced members of the UNS Literary Research Commission
Participants will have their work published on the UpNext Scientists’ website and shared on platforms such as Instagram and LinkedIn
We’ll assist in getting your work published in additional peer-reviewed journals

Asynchronous Content:
Pre-recorded lessons to watch at your convenience.
Live Meetings:
Orientation & Conclusion: Mandatory live sessions on September 28 and November 2.
Mentor Sessions: Weekly 1-on-1 meetings for personalized guidance (scheduled individually with your mentor).

Publication Opportunities: Publish your paper in The Writers' Lab Journal, with possible features on social media.
Completion Certificate: Earn a certificate along with 10 volunteer hours, and potential recommendation letters.
Mentorship: One-on-one guidance with trained mentors to help refine your writing.

What do I need to know about the application process?
Duration: September 28 - November 2, 2024 (6 weeks).
Orientation Meeting: September 28, 7:00 AM PDT (Zoom).
Conclusion Meeting: November 2, 7:00 AM PDT (Zoom).
Weekly Mentor Sessions: Minimum 30 minutes per week (via Zoom, scheduled individually).
Who will be given preference?
Students who benefit from peer mentorship.
Students who are just starting out in research.
Students who have a passion for the sciences and a strong desire to learn.
